The Astonishing Hypocrisy of DeviantArt

Image
The original logo of DeviantArt. People who've used the platform in the past often think this logo represented the "good old days" of the website. DeviantArt was never the premier website for the art community on the Internet, but during the 2000s, it was one of the most popular places for people to express themselves and set their imaginations free to compose whatever it was that they decided to do. True to its name, however, DeviantArt would indeed draw the real "deviants" of the world - that is, the unsavory members of society - to their platform and thus give a microphone to the voices of seriously damaged and depraved minds. Many of the members who use the platform are quite frankly overtly sexist, very immature and have a fragile sense of the world. The website is riddled with soft pornographic content, hentai, and crudely drawn "artwork" that at best serves as narrow-minded, infantile obsessions and points the way for further excursions into the...

I Don't "Feel As If" or "Feel As Though" Anything

It's getting harder to find people who are genuine and true to themselves these days. Integrity and authenticity are virtues once held dear by most people, and such hallmarks are being cast into the abyss as conspicuous consumption and instant gratification continue to take precedence in our lives — the consequences that come with Gordon Gekko-style capitalism and in a time where the truth and facts are increasingly distorted by malicious megalomaniacs.  The first clue that I can tell that someone I talk to isn't trustworthy is when they say "I feel as if" or "I feel as though", and the more this occurs, the more my BS meter goes off. It's a glaringly obvious indication that they can't make their mind up and or they don't know much or anything about the subject at hand. Be honest with yourself — do you think this way or that way? Don't convolute things or make mountains out of molehills. Believing in something does not equate to actually bein...

A Political Pondering That's Been On My Mind For The Past Three Years

In the Declaration of Independence, the Founding Fathers envisioned life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all. However, they also thoroughly designed the United States to be a land where everyone is governed by laws and not by men and women. When it comes to the pursuit of happiness, this very philosophy, while brilliant and eternally admirable, is not one to be taken literally or for granted. And, when malignant narcissistic sociopaths determine that, in order to be happy, that they: a) succeed ruthlessly at any cost,  b) that everyone and everything else fails,  c) that laws and social norms and orders are to be circumvented and broken,  d) that they need to hijack the political environment and flood the social fabric with eccentric rhetoric purposefully crafted with lie after after lie after lie in what can only be described as a plot of subterfuge, and  e) they find a sick, twisted, perverse joy in seeing average law-abiding citizens mal-informed and ove...

Welcome to The Adventures and Ramblings of DimitriFaustin

Image
Dear Reader, Greetings - welcome to my new blog. This is the "ceremonial first pitch" of what I hope will grow into a compendium of entertaining and thought-provoking musings and ruminations about video games, music, sports, movies, television shows, history, roads and life in general. You may even learn something new from my essays, rants and such. So... who is DimitriFaustin? That is, for lack of a better username, the avatar I've used on Internet forums since 2016 and was a Grand Theft Auto IV in-joke, which referred to the two characters Dimitri Rascalov (the game's main antagonist) and Mikhail Faustin. I am also a former DeviantArt user - I had an account there from 2017 to 2024, and all artwork and works I published there will return to life through this blog which I will post here when time allows me to. Thus, this will be the new home of the Anywhere City HD Concept (a remake of the setting of Grand Theft Auto 2), the GTA 64 Concept (my own take on what a Gran...
